Custom Domain Setup Guide

Why Use Custom Domains?

Custom domains let you use your own brand on redirect links instead of a shared domain. Benefits include:

Trust — Visitors see your brand, not a generic short link domain
Click-through rates — Branded links get 30-40% more clicks than generic ones
Brand consistency — Keep your brand visible across all channels
Control — If you ever switch platforms, your links stay on your domain

Requirements

A domain or subdomain you own (e.g., go.yourbrand.com)
Access to your domain's DNS settings
GeoRedir Pro plan or higher (custom domains not available on Free plan)

Use a Subdomain

We recommend using a subdomain (like go.yourbrand.com or links.yourbrand.com) rather than your root domain. This avoids conflicts with your main website.

DNS Setup

Add a CNAME record pointing your subdomain to GeoRedir's redirect server:

Type:  CNAME
Name:  go              (or your chosen subdomain)
Value: cname.georedir.com
TTL:   Auto (or 3600)

DNS propagation can take up to 24 hours, but usually completes within a few minutes.

Domain Verification

After adding the DNS record, verify your domain in GeoRedir:

Go to Settings → Domains
Click "Add Domain"
Enter your full subdomain (e.g., go.yourbrand.com)
Click "Verify"

GeoRedir checks that your CNAME record points to our servers. Once verified, SSL is automatically provisioned.

Using Your Domain

After verification, your smart links work on your custom domain automatically. For example, a link with slug best-casino is available at:

https://go.yourbrand.com/best-casino

Troubleshooting

Verification fails: Wait 15-30 minutes for DNS propagation, then try again.
SSL errors: SSL is auto-provisioned after verification. If you see SSL errors, wait 5-10 minutes for the certificate to be issued.
Links not redirecting: Ensure the slug exists and the link is active. Check that the CNAME record points to cname.georedir.com.
